Caritas International / Caritas Pilipinas Yolanda Response Program Learning Review
Staff from different dioceses responding to the Yolanda emergency and officials from Caritas Pilipinas and Caritas International conduct a 3-day workshop on the lessons learned from the different sub-sectoral response experience. The discussions focused on how the Catholic Church builds its capacity to respond to emergencies from the village to the diocesan level – from food security, to livelihoods, to water and sanitation – and how it relates to the different humanitarian actors, including the government, the private sector, and civil society. Great interaction with and among parish priests who headed the social action centers (SAC) and with lay workers at the forefront of the Church’s response to the crisis.
